Ohio State freshman linebacker Kyle Berger tears ACL

Tuesday August 12th, 2014

Ohio State freshman linebacker Kyle Berger has torn his right ACL, he announced on Twitter.

It is the second time in the past year Berger has torn his right ACL, as he also tore it before his senior year of high school. Berger was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and was expected to compete for playing time with the Buckeyes.

Ohio State will likely redshirt Berger this season in response to the injury, writes Doug Lesmerises of Cleveland.com

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is expected to address the injury when he talks to the media after Tuesday's practice.

Last month, Ohio State dismissed defensive end Tracy Sprinkle after he was arrested and charged with cocaine possession following a bar brawl.
