Friday August 15th, 2014

Oklahoma freshman running back Joe Mixon, who was under investigation for allegedly assaulting an Oklahoma female student at a restaurant near campus in July, has been charged with one misdemeanor count of an act resulting in gross injury, according to reports.

If found guilty, Mixon could face up to one year of jail time and a $500 fine.

Mixon has not participated in Oklahoma's preseason training camp.

The recruiting website Rivals.com rated Mixon No. 1 among running backs in the class of 2014.

Mixon was expected to compete for playing time right away.
