Report: LSU freshman DT Travonte Valentine cleared by NCAA
Freshman defensive tackle Travonte Valentine tweeted Monday that he has been cleared by the NCAA to play for LSU this season. Valentine's high school coach confirmed the news in a report from The Advocate in Baton Rouge, La.
Valentine, a four-star class of 2014 defensive tackle ranked No. 3 at his position according to Rivals.com, is set to begin practicing on Tuesday or Wednesday.
An LSU spokesman told The Advocate that Valentine has not been cleared and is still “going through the final phases of the admission process”.
Valentine won't be allowed to work out in full pads until the fifth day of practice after going through the four-day acclimation period mandated by the NCAA.
