Tulane running back Rob Kelley charged with battery and robbery

Tuesday August 26th, 2014

Tulane suspended running back Rob Kelley after he was charged with simple battery and simple robbery, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Police say Kelley struck another student multiple times and stole his bicycle.

Kelley, 21, was arrested earlier this month and posted a $10,000 bond at a court appearance.  Kelley's attorney, Scott R. Bickford, said that there was never any intent by Kelley “to either harm the alleged victim or deprive him of his property.”

Kelley did not participate in spring practice because of academic issues. Kelley has made six starts in his career with the program, rushing for 1,038 yards. He ran for 420 yards and scored three touchdowns last season.
