The Ohio State Buckeyes came within minutes last season of a chance to play for the national championship, but they couldn't hold off the eventual Rose Bowl champion Michigan State Spartans in the Big Ten Championship Game. Instead, the Buckeyes played in the Orange Bowl and lost to the Clemson Tigers. 

In fall practice, Ohio State lost starting quarterback Braxton Miller for the season. Miller a senior, tore the labrum in his right shoulder. The Buckeyes also lost several players to the NFL, including Carlos Hyde, Ryan Shazier and Bradley Roby.
