Going into the 2013 season, TCU was ranked 20th. But the Horned Frogs struggled, finishing the season at 4-8 overall and 2-7 in the Big 12. 

Devonte Fields - the preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year - was dismissed from the team earlier this month following an alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend.

Patterson still has yet to name a starting quarterback, and the team reportedly plans to play both incumbent starter Trevone Boykin and Texas A&M transfer Matt Joeckel to open the season.
