Sam Houston State vs. LSU

The LSU Tigers welcome FCS Sam Houston State on Saturday in their first home game of the season. In their opener last weekend, the Tigers came back from a 24-7 deficit to defeat Wisconsin, 28-24. Sam Houston State is 1-1 after losing to Eastern Washington and beating Alabama State.

Anthony Jennings was the starting quarterback for LSU in the season opener. He had 239 yards on 9-of-24 passing with two touchdowns.

Kenny Hilliard was the Tigers' leading rusher against Wisconsin. He had 110 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown. 

Heralded true freshman running back Leonard Fournette had eight carries for 18 yards. He also returned five kickoffs for a total of 117 yards. 

LSU has won 46 straight regular season non-conference games, the longest streak in the nation.

LSU's comeback against Wisconsin was the Tigers' 22nd victory under Les Miles when trailing in the fourth quarter. Fifteen of those wins came against ranked teams.

LSU has won 40 straight non-conference games at home. The Tigers have not lost in Baton Rouge to a non-conference opponent since UAB in 2000.

LSU has been ranked in the AP Top 25 for 83 consecutive weeks, the second-longest active streak in the nation.

LSU has never faced Sam Houston State before. 

Sam Houston co-defensive coordinator Mike Collins was a linebackers coach at LSU under Nick Saban.
