Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Tulane Green Wave


Georgia Tech opened the 2014 season with a 38-19 victory over Wofford, and the Yellow Jackets now travel to New Orleans to face Tulane in Week 2. The Green Wave are 0-1 after a 38-31 loss to Tulsa in the season opener.

Prior to the season opener, Georgia Tech was one of just 11 FBS schools that did not have a quarterback with any starting experience on the roster.

The Yellow Jackets have scored a touchdown on the opening drive in six of their last seven games. 

Georgia Tech and its triple-option attack rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns in the opener. 

Starting QB Justin Thomas completed 11 of 15 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns against Wofford. Receiver DeAndre Smelter had 132 of those yards.

Offensive lineman Shaquille Mason was named a preseason All-America by multiple outlets, in addition to being a preseason All-ACC selection.

Tulane facts

Saturday's game will mark the first home game at Yulman Stadium, the program's first on-campus facility in 39 years.

Tulane has allotted 4,400 tickets for students, the highest total since the program began keeping records.

The 2014 season marks the first season for Tulane in the American Athletic Conference. The team was previously a member of Conference USA.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Tanner Lee made his first start in the opener. He threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

Junior cornerback Lorenzo Doss was named to three preseason award watch lists (Thorpe, Nagurski and Bednarik) in addition to being selected as a preseason All-America by multiple outlets.
