GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) Florida will be without cornerback J.C. Jackson for the rest of season because of a shoulder injury.

Jackson, a 5-foot-11 freshman from Immokalee, will have surgery next week to repair labrum damage

Coach Will Muschamp says Jackson first injured his shoulder in high school, and it slipped out of place in training camp and again in Saturday's season opener against Eastern Michigan.

Muschamp says Jackson ''possibly could continue to push through the season, but we felt like at his young age to go ahead and get it fixed and move forward. He's a guy who certainly was going to help on special teams and at corner. He's going to be an outstanding player. I'm disappointed for him but we have to move forward.''
