Kiy Hester, a four-star recruit who originally signed with Miami (FL), has enrolled at Rutgers, the school announced Thursday.
Hester told NJ.com he was transferring from Miami in order to be closer to his ill mother. Hester is a native of New Jersey.
After initially committing to Rutgers, Hester changed his mind and signed with Miami.
Hester was the 21st-best safety prospect in the Class of 2014, according to Rivals. He also played receiver in high school. Rutgers planned to use him on offense and defense when he originally committed, reported NJ.com.
Rutgers plays Penn State Saturday in its first Big Ten game.
