College football week 3 highlights

Saturday September 13th, 2014

This week's collection of highlights features everything from a massive defensive tackle recording an interception to a leaping one-handed touchdown grab to a wild kick return that was overturned.

Giving any receiver that much room is a terrible idea. When you're dealing with Maryland’s Stefon Diggs, a touchdown is virtually guaranteed.

Here is 335-pound Missouri defensive tackle Josh Augusta snagging a tipped pass for an interception.

You might have to watch this play a few times to understand what actually happened. Maryland defensive back William Likely was back to return a punt, but the ball bounced away when a West Virginia special teams player hit Likely. Then, another Maryland player grabbed the ball and ran for a touchdown. Alas, Likely called for a fair catch, causing the touchdown to be overturned.

Later in the game, Likely returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown.

Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota dove headfirst at the end of a 19-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

UMass took a two-touchdown lead on Vanderbilt with a perfectly-executed fake punt.

Let’s give Virginia Tech receiver Isaiah Ford the benefit of the doubt on this impressive one-handed grab. That ball may have hit the ground before Ford secured it for a touchdown, but the officials apparently didn’t notice.

Missouri punctuated its 38-10 beatdown of Central Florida with a late defensive touchdown. Two UCF players -- quarterback Justin Holman and offensive lineman Michael Campbell -- somehow managed to fumble on the same play.

Kentucky running back Stanley Boom Williams probably should have never been able to run into his own blocker, double back across the field and then run for a touchdown.

Quarterback Tyler Murphy made one cut near the line of scrimmage then sprinted 66 yards for a touchdown to seal Boston College's upset of USC.

Minnesota cornerback Jalen Myrick got spun around on this throw to the back corner of the end zone. Still, do not underestimate the degree of difficulty on that one-handed catch.

This 84-yard touchdown run from Alex Collins perfectly illustrates how much success Arkansas’ rushing attack had Saturday against Texas Tech
