TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida A&M has announced it will use an advisory committee to help with the search for a new football coach.

The nine-member committee will be led by former NFL player John Wooten, the university said in a statement Tuesday. Wooten is the chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which promotes equal-opportunity hiring in the NFL.

Earl Holmes was fired last week in the midst of his second season. He was hired in January 2013 and went 3-9. The Rattlers started 2014 0-5, but won their last two games before Holmes was let go.

Corey Fuller was promoted to interim head coach.

Athletic director Kellen Winslow has faced criticism for firing Holmes during Homecoming week. He plans to make a decision on a new coach by January 2015.
