William & Mary holds off Elon 17-7

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) Mikal Abdul-Saboor rushed 30 times for 189 yards and a score to lead William & Mary past Elon 17-7 on Saturday.

William & Mary (6-4, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association) held a 17-0 halftime lead. Abdul-Saboor scored from 1-yard out, Kendell Anderson added a 23-yard TD and John Carpenter kicked a 32-yard field goal with 2 seconds remaining before the intermission.

Elon (1-9, 0-6) got on the board in the third quarter when Mike Quinn connected with Demitri Allison for 26 yards. On its next possession, Elon put together a 10-play, 72-yard drive, but John Gallagher had his 20-yard field goal blocked with 11:28 left.

Quinn threw interceptions on back-to-back drives in the second quarter for Elon. Ivan Tagoe grabbed one on a third-and-2 play from the William & Mary 12 and Airek Green returned the second 39 yards to the Elon 29.
