Huesman leads Chattanooga past Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Jacob Huesman threw passed for 234 yards and four touchdowns and added 89 yards rushing and another score to lead Chattanooga past Tennessee Tech 38-17 on Saturday.

Chattanooga (8-3) allowed Tennessee Tech just nine first downs and 171 total yards, 64 of which came on a touchdown run by Ladari Vanlier, and held the ball for 40 minutes.

Vanlier's touchdown pulled Tennessee Tech (4-7) within four midway through the second quarter, but Chattanooga responded with an 8-play, 60-yard drive capped by a 2-yard scoring pass from Huesman to Taharin Tyson about 2 1/2 minutes left in the half.

On the first play of the ensuing drive, Keionta Davis strip-sacked Darian Stone and recovered the fumble, setting up a 9-yard touchdown catch by Tommy Hudson, giving Chattanooga a 28-10 lead at halftime.

Tennessee Tech never threatened again.

Huesman's 7,705 career yards of total offense ranks 5th in Southern Conference history.
