Buffalo-Kent State football game postponed by snow

AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) The University at Buffalo's football game against Kent State on Wednesday night has been postponed because of a severe winter storm that continues to hit Western New York.

Officials will wait until Thursday morning to decide whether the Mid-American Conference game can be played that day or moved to another date.

Buffalo (4-6, 2-4 MAC) and Kent State (1-9, 0-6) are already out of playoff contention and each are scheduled to close the season next week.

The postponement comes during a week in which a severe lake-effect storm that dumped more about 5 feet of snow south and east of Buffalo. More snow is in the forecast through Thursday.

Buffalo's campus is north of the city, but travel is an issue with numerous highways and roads closed.
