BOSTON (AP) Boston College has extended football coach Steve Addazio's contract by two years through 2020 after he led them to 14 wins in his first two seasons.

The Eagles (7-5) will face Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27.

Addazio replaced Frank Spaziani after the Eagles went 2-10 in 2012 and led them to a 7-6 record, including a 42-19 loss to Arizona in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl. This year they nearly beat unbeaten Florida State in the next to last game, losing 20-17.

''To lead a team to 14 wins and two consecutive bowl games during what was supposed to be a rebuilding process is a great accomplishment,'' BC athletic director Brad Bates said.

Addazio took over a program that had consecutive losing seasons for the first time in 14 years.
