Louisville S Ross suspended following arrest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Louisville has suspended redshirt sophomore safety Terrence Ross following his arrest early Sunday morning on several charges including assaulting a police officer.

Ross faces a Wednesday court appearance after Louisville Metro Police charged him for disorderly conduct, marijuana possession and third degree assault of a police officer. The university announced the suspension Sunday night, saying in a statement that it is ''aware of the situation and is continuing to gather information. ... the matter will continue to be evaluated.''

The 6-foot-1, Apopka, Florida, native returned two kickoffs for 28 yards in the Cardinals' 37-14 loss to Georgia in the Belk Bowl. Ross played in three games last season for Louisville.

Ross' arrest was first reported by Louisville TV station WAVE.
