The Virginia Tech Hokies and Rutgers Scarlet Knights have agreed to a home-and-home football series to be played in 2023 and 2024, Virginia Tech and Rutgers both announced on Tuesday.

Virginia Tech will travel to Rutgers on Sept. 16, 2023, while the Scarlet Knights will visit the Hokies on Sept. 21, 2024. The Hokies have won the last 12 of the two schools' meetings.

The teams first played in 1920, and played each other every season from 1990 to 2003, the last year Rutgers hosted Virginia Tech.

The two meetings will bring together the former Big East conference rivals, and Rutgers is the sixth Big Ten school added to Virginia Tech's schedule. The Hokies recently rescheduled two-game series with both Penn State and Wisconsin, will host national champion Ohio State next season and are planning for a series against Michigan.
