Thursday February 5th, 2015

TCU defensive coordinator Dick Bumpas is retiring, according to a report from Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports.

Bumpas has coached the Horned Frogs' defense and defensive line since 2004.

A three-time recipient of the Broyles Award, which is given to the nation's top assistant, Bumpas helped TCU rank first in the Big 12 in total defense in two of the three seasons since the program joined the Big 12.

Bumpas also worked with Patterson at several other schools, including Utah State and Tennessee Tech before coaching together at TCU.

This season TCU ranked sixth nationally in yards per play allowed and eighth in points per game allowed. TCU went 12-1, won a share of the conference championship and finished in first third place in the final AP Poll.
