Tuesday March 3rd, 2015

The Oregon State Beavers open up spring practice on Tuesday as they begin preparations for the 2015 college football season, and the team is debuting new helmets for it.

The helmets are black with the word "Beavers" scripted in orange, which are similar in style to the orange helmets the team wore in 1979.

The Beavers also wore a similar style white helmet in the mid-80s through the mid-90s, according to CollegeFootballTalk.

Oregon State finished 5-7 last season. The program is beginning spring practice under the direction of first-year head coach Gary Andersen, who left Wisconsin to take the job in Corvallis after Mike Riley departed for Nebraska. .
