Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel was kicked off the team Saturday after he was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges of burglary and theft.
Daniel is facing four theft of property charges and four burglary charges. Two of the theft charges and the four burglary charges are classified as felonies.
Multiple dorms in Auburn's South Donahue Residence Hall were burglarized during the university's spring break in late March. Residents, including many Tigers football players, reported "various electronic devices and jewelry" were stolen, the Auburn Police Division said.
Daniel, walk-on DeNorris James and former Auburn track athlete Khalil Sellers were developed as suspects.
"I have decided to dismiss Elijah Daniel from our team," Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. "My hope is that he will learn from this situation."
Daniel played in 13 games with two starts last season and was expected to compete for a starting job in August against DaVonte Lambert and freshman Byron Cowart. Over his first two seasons, Daniel played all 27 games.
An Indianapolis native, Daniel was a four-star prospect by Rivals.com coming out of high school and the No. 107 player in the class of 2013.
