Texas adds Texas A&M-Commerce's Wendel Davis as defensive analyst

Friday June 26th, 2015

Texas A&M-Commerce co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Wendel Davis is joining Texas as a defensive analyst, according to a source.

Davis had spent the last two seasons at Texas A&M-Commerce. Prior to that, he had spent a pair of seasons helping oversee the linebackers at West Texas A&M.

A Sweeny, Texas, native, Davis was a linebacker at Arkansas from 2006-09. At Texas A&M-Commerce, he was responsible for recruiting in Houston.

Davis joins a Texas program returning 13 starters from last year’s team. The Longhorns posted a 6–7 record and appeared in the Texas Bowl during coach Charlie Strong’s inaugural campaign.
