In 2014, Georgia Tech won the Coastal Division of the ACC, won its bowl game and finished the season ranked No. 8 in the country. The Yellow Jackets finished strong, winning three of its last four games, all of which came against top-20 opponents. The team brings back most of its offensive line from last season as well as quarterback Justin Thomas, which should bode well for the school's signature option attack.

Alcorn State is an FCS team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Braves finished 2014 with a 10-3 record and a SWAC Championship Game win over Southern. It was the second straight season coach Jay Hopson, entering his fourth year as coach, led the team to a 7-2 conference record. After the season, Alcorn State was named the black college national football champions, claiming both the SBN Sports Black National College Championship and the HBCU national championship.
