The Michigan State looks to extend their nine-game winning streak against Western Michigan which dates back to 1921.

Michigan State will kick off its 2015 college football season with an in-state bout at Western Michigan on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. ET. Michigan State looks to extend its nine-game winning streak against Western Michigan dating back to 1921. 

Michigan State finished last season with an 11–2 record, going 7–1 in Big Ten play. The team finished second in the Big Ten's East Division behind eventual national champion Ohio State. Coach Mark Dantonio capped off his eighth season by overcoming a 20-point defect and defeating Baylor in the Cotton Bowl 42-41.

The Spartans finished last season ranked fifth in the AP and Coaches polls.

Western Michigan went 8–5 in coach P.J. Fleck's second season with the team, including a 6–2 finish in the MAC for a third place in the West Division. They went on to lose the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to Air Force.

The two teams last played each other in the 2013 season opener, with the Spartans winning 26-13 in East Lansing.
