Lightning causes Friday's Illinois-Kent State game to be moved to Saturday

Saturday September 5th, 2015

The Illinois Fighting Illini have rescheduled their game against Kent State for 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, the school announced.

The two teams were scheduled to meet shortly after 8 p.m. Friday night, but lightning kept them off the field for three hours, lingering until about 10:30.

This will be Illinois’s first game since firing head coach Tim Beckman a week ago.

The game was initially scheduled to air on the Big Ten Network, but will no longer be televised. Those with a subscription will be able to stream it online.

Since Kent State was scheduled to head back to campus late Friday night, they were forced to scatter throughout the area to find available hotel rooms, reports’s David Mercer. It cost the school nearly $8,000.
