Litton, making his debut as starting quarterback, completed 24 of 31 passes with no interceptions and rushed for another 27 yards. Deandre Reaves caught two of the TD throws, including a 36-yarder in the second quarter. Davonte Allen hauled in an 11-yard scoring throw and Justin Hunt caught a 25-yard strike to pad the final score for Marshall (2-1).
Nick Smith kicked a 52-yard field goal to put the Thundering Herd on the board in the first quarter.
Norfolk State (0-3) jumped out to an early lead with Greg Hankerson's 14-yard touchdown pass to Gerard Johnson to cap a six-play, 75-yard opening drive. But it struggled to move the ball the rest of the game, gaining just 191 total yards to Marshall's 495.
