Cincinnati is coming off a narrow 34–26 loss to Temple and will look to rebound against in-state opponent Miami (OH). The Bearcats outscored the Owls 14-3 in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to eight, but could not get any closer. Quarterback Gunner Kiel has thrown for 660 yards and four touchdowns through the first two games. He has also thrown four interceptions. Running back Tion Green has rushed for 186 yards on 30 carries.

The RedHawks come into the game a week after being blown out by Wisconsin 58–0. Miami (OH) managed only 157 yards of totally offense and turned over the ball four times. Quarterback Drew Kummer is 20-of-33 passing for 317 yards and two touchdowns so far this season. The RedHawks do not have a rusher that has hit the 100-yard mark.
