Ohio State suspended cornerback Damon Webb before its game with Northern Illinois for a violation of athletic department policy, the team announced.

The sophomore has been the Buckeyes' main nickel cornerback. The school did not offer a timetable for his possible return.

After serving mostly on special teams last season, Webb made eight tackles in Ohio State's first two games.

No. 1 ranked Ohio State topped Northern Illinois 20–13 and remains unbeaten. The Buckeyes host Western Michigan next week before beginning conference play.
