Ole Miss DB Tony Conner to undergo knee surgery

Monday September 21st, 2015

Ole Miss Rebels defensive back Tony Conner will undergo surgery on a meniscus tear and miss at least four weeks, coach Hugh Freeze told reporters Monday.

Conner sustained the injury during the Rebels’ 43–37 victory over Alabama last Saturday. Conner, a junior, starts at nickel back for the Rebels. Sophomore A.J. Moore is listed behind him on the team’s official depth chart.

Moore, Chief Brown and C.J. Hampton are expected to see more playing time in Conner’s absence.

Conner was part of Ole Miss’ strong 2013 recruiting class. In 13 games last season, Conner recorded 69 total tackles, including one sack, as well as an interception.

The Rebels moved up to a tie with TCU at No. 3 in the latest AP poll. Ole Miss will take on Vanderbilt next week.
