The Wolfpack are coming off of their first loss to the season after falling to Louisville on Saturday. NC State was held under 400 yards of total offense for the first time of the season. The Cardinals had 203 rushing yards and controlled the ball for more than 33 minutes of the game to defeat the Wolfpack 20–13.
The Hokies (2–3) are looking to shake off a 17–13 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday. The Panthers rushed for 166 yards and controlled the Virginia Tech offense to earn just their second win over the Hokies. That marked the second straight loss for the Hokies after a loss to East Carolina in Week 4.
