College football Week 12 picks: SI.com's writers predict winners for Ohio State-Michigan State, USC-Oregon and more.

At this point of the season, teams don’t have a lot of time to prove to the selection committee that they deserve a spot in the College Football Playoff. Baylor has three more games to make its case after falling to Oklahoma last week. Notre Dame plays two more contests before it learns its playoff fate. Most observers are already writing off the Pac-12 in the CFP race after Utah and Stanford suffered losses.

The résumé-building process intensifies this week with a slew of important matchups. Will North Carolina, riding a nine-game winning streak, survive a trip to Virginia Tech? How will Ohio State fare in its first meeting with a ranked team this season, Michigan State? Can the Sooners score another big win against TCU?
