Houston coach Tom Herman said he will remain with the team.
Herman, formerly an offensive coordinator at Ohio State, was rumored to be a head coaching target for some of the major programs with openings. Herman said Monday an agreement was in place for a new contract keeping him with Houston.
“These things take twists and turns along the way as they sometimes do, but I don't anticipate that happening,” Herman said at his weekly press conference.
Herman’s current contract pays him slightly less than $1.5 million a year. On Nov. 20, the school approved the athletic department to give Herman a raise to at least $3 million a year in a new contract.
In his first year as head coach, Herman led the Cougars to an 11–1 record and a berth in the AAC championship game.
