SEC Network personality Paul Finebaum went on SI Now Wednesday to discuss a variety of college football topics, including playoff expansion and Danny Kanell’s recent comments.

Finebaum said that a six-team playoff might be more viable than an eight-team playoff should expansion occur. The growth of the postseason tournament appears increasingly inevitable, according to SI’s Maggie Gray, and Finebaum took that thought and expanded further, vouching for a play-in game and byes for the top two teams, same as in the NFL.

In addition, he addressed ESPN analyst Danny Kanell’s recent controversial comments about the “liberal media” waging a “war on football” given the talk of player safety revolving around concussions and CTE. You can watch Finebaum’s comments on Kanell’s stance below, in which he calls that an “irresponsible statement.” He also discussed the ongoing concussion dialogue.

Kanell, a former NFL and AFL quarterback, made his original comments on Twitter in response to “concussion alarmists.”
