Alabama defensive back Tony Brown has been sent home for a violation of team rules, reports SI’s Andy Staples.

“We have made an internal decision to send Tony Brown home due to a violation of team rules,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a statement.

Brown, a sophomore, finishes the season tied for the team lead with eight special teams tackles.

A former five-star recruit out of Beaumont, Texas, Brown recorded 16 tackles, a forced fumble and defended two passes in 2015.

Alabama will play Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
