Urban Meyer says NFL team contacted him, he had no interest
Thursday December 31st, 2015

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer admitted to reporters Wednesday that an NFL team contacted him about a job opening earlier this year.

Meyer has been linked to professional jobs in the past and affirmed that he did not have interest in leaving Ohio State. “I was reached out to,” Meyer said, according to ESPN. “[They] asked if I would be interested, and I'm not.”

Meyer wouldn’t name the team, and was asked directly if it was the Cleveland Browns who had gotten in touch. The team has been linked to Meyer through reports in the past.

“I really enjoy where I'm coaching and who I'm coaching,” said Meyer. “At this point, my son's in high school. We're where we need to be. I really love my athletic director. I think the future's bright. We're recruiting well. I'm very happy with where we're at.”

Meyer is 49–4 the past four seasons at Ohio State entering Friday’s Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame. He is 153–27 as a head coach overall and has won three national championships, two with Florida (2006, 2008) and in 2014 with Ohio State.
