Florida State quarterback Sean Maguire briefly left Thursday’s Peach Bowl game against Houston with a leg injury.
Maguire was injured in the first quarter after being hit while running toward the sideline and landing awkwardly on his left leg. He limped off the field, apparently unable to put weight on it, and was carted off the field for evaluation. He returned with a large wrap on his left foot and ankle in the middle of the second quarter and Florida State trailing 7–3.
Freshman J.J. Cosentino, who has thrown just six career passes, temporarily replaced him.
Maguire, a junior, has thrown for 1,128 yards and nine touchdowns to two interceptions this season entering Thursday’s game, splitting time with Everett Golson at the position.
