Penn State promotes Brent Pry to defensive coordinator

Penn State co-defensive coordinator and assistant head coach Brent Pry has been promoted to defensive coordinator, the school announced Sunday.

Pry has worked for head coach James Franklin the last five seasons at Vanderbilt and Penn State. He has worked as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach each those seasons.

Pry's new role also includes an associate head coach title. 

The Nittany Lions defense ranked 14th in total yards per game (324) and 30th in points (21.7) in 2015. 

Tennessee hires Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop

 Defensive recruiting coordinator and cornerbacks coach Terry M. Smith was been named assistant head coach.
