STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) Penn State has hired former Minnesota offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover as the offensive line coach for the Nittany Lions.

Coach James Franklin made the announcement Wednesday.

Limegrover, a native of Pittsburgh, grew up a Penn State fan. He had the dual role at Minnesota of offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the last five seasons under now-retired coach Jerry Kill. New Minnesota coach Tracy Claeys let Limegrover go after a sporadic performance by the offense in 2015.

Under Limegrover's direction, Minnesota rebuilt a productive running attack, finishing 30th in the FBS in yards per game in 2014 and 37th in 2013.

Limegrover spent 16 seasons working under Kill. He started his coaching career at the University of Chicago in 1991.
