Cyclones rolling on recruiting trail
Iowa State landed four commitments, pushing up to No. 55 in the Scout team recruiting rankings. Here is a quick recap whom they have landed.
Sean Foster, a 6'8", 298-pound offensive tackle from Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel Catholic is the crown jewel of the ISU recruiting class right now. He picked the Cyclones over an abundance of other offers. He was at one time committed to Minnesota, but opened back up after the departure of Jerry Kill.
Jalen Martin, a 6'2", 190-pound wide receiver from Harper Woods (Mich.) Chandler Park Academy switched his commitment from Toledo to ISU after getting an offer and taking his official visit. Obviously this is a prospect who Matt Campbell is very high on, offering him at both of these schools.
Steven Wirtel, a 6'4", 207-pound long snapper from Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel may not be playing one of the more glamorous spots on the field, but he is considered to be one of the top guys at the craft in the nation and had offers from schools like Auburn, Georgia and Wisconsin in addition to ISU to prove it.
Dylan Soehner, a 6'6", 260-pound offensive tackle / tight end from Prairie Grove (Ark.) was the first commitment of the four-commitment run. A versatile two-star prospect who will get the first shot at the tight end position in Ames, but has the size and length to also potentially grow into an offensive lineman down the road.
Decision looming for three-star Castillo
Trystan Castillo, a 6'4", 290-pound offensive guard from Webb City (Mo.) made the decision to commit to Missouri back in April, but since that non-binding verbal commitment things have changes for the three-star prospect, namely the coaching staff in Columbia.
He has opened back up and has taken an official visits to Minnesota and Iowa State.
He will take an official visit to Missouri this weekend and then he will announce a final decision between those three schools on Jan. 27.
Big recruiting weekend for Big 12 schools
TCU: The Horned Frogs will play host to Scout four-star wide receiver Adewale Omotosho, a 6'2", 190-pound wide receiver from Plano (Texas) East. Omotosho is also considering offers from schools like Oklahoma State, SMU and UCLA.
Texas: The Longhorns will be bringing in Scout four-star safety Chris Brown, a 5'11", 185-pound defensive back from Alief (Texas) Elsik. This is a key visit as Brown is playing a position of need in this class and is also teammates of highly coveted linebacker Dontavious Jackson.
Oklahoma: The Sooners will be bringing in Jared Mayden, a 6'2", 190-pound Top 100 rated cornerback from Sachse (Texas). This is an interesting visit as his father (James Mayden) played basketball for the Sooners and now OU will get the last shot at him before he heads to play in the International Bowl. You can watch Mayden and Team USA compete at AT&T Stadium on Jan. 31.
West Virginia: The Mountaineers will play host to a pair of three-star recruits from Citra (Fla.) North Marion. OT/DT Zack Williams is currently committed to Pitt, and OLB Jordan Woods is considering WVU alongside Georgia Tech, Tennessee and others.
