Warde Manuel will reportedly be hired as the University of Michigan’s next athletic director.
An official announcement is expected to be made later this week once the terms of the deal are finalized.
Manuel, who is currently the University of Connecticut’s AD, is a former Michigan football player who previously served in the Wolverines’ athletic department as an administrator. Manuel and Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh were teammates on Bo Schembechler’s 1986 squad.
The 47-year-old, who will become the 13th AD in Michigan’s history, had been at the helm of the Huskies’ athletic department since 2012.
Manuel will replace Michigan’s interim athletic director Jim Hackett.
