Arkansas hires ex-Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads as DBs coach

Arkansas has hired former Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads to coach their defensive backs, the school announced Wednesday.

Rhoads, who was hired by the Cyclones in 2009, was let go after six straight losing seasons. He went 32–55 and 1–2 in bowl games.

The 49-year-old began his coaching career as a graduate assistant in 1989 at Utah State before spending time with Pacific, Iowa State, Pittsburgh and Auburn.

The Razorbacks defense ranked 72nd in the nation last year, allowing an average of 404 yards per game.
