Oklahoma has been voted the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 this season after making an appearance at last year's College Football Playoff semifinal.

The Sooners have topped the preseason poll on four occasions since 2011. This year, the Sooners picked up 24 of 26 first-place votes for a 258 point total. TCU took the other two first-place votes and finished second with 222 points. Oklahoma State was third with 202 points.

Several Oklahoma players also received individual preseason honors. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is the preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, while tight end Mark Andrews and outside linebacker Orlando Brown are on the preseason all–offense team.

Defensive lineman Charles Walker, linebacker Jordan Evans, punter Austin Seibert and defensive backs Jordan Thomas and Steven Parker received preseason defensive team honors.
