Notre Dame announced Wednesday that sophomore tight end Alizé Jones will not play this season.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly announced Wednesday that sophomore tight end Alizé Jones will not play this season.

Jones will be allowed to practice and be on the roster. The former five-star recruit was expected to be a key part of the Irish passing game this season at 6'5", 240 pounds. 

He tweeted a comment on Wednesday suggesting his punishment was academic related. 

Jones caught 13 passes for 190 yards as a freshman, making five starts and 13 total appearances.
