Alcorn State to host six in 2017

(STATS) - Alcorn State will play six home games and visit FIU as part of an 11-game 2017 schedule announced Sunday.

The Braves, who finished 5-6 and lost in the SWAC Championship Game under coach Fred McNair this year, will look to get back there next season with a lineup that will return eight starters on offense and seven on defense.

They will host Miles (Sept. 2) in their season opener and McNeese (Sept. 16) in another non-conference game. The SWAC is dropping its conference schedule from nine games to seven and the Braves will host Southern (Sept. 23), Prairie View A&M (Oct. 14), Alabama A&M (Nov. 4) and Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 11) in conference matchups.

The road portion of the schedule includes a Sept. 9 visit to FIU in Miami.
