Ken McRoyal

Keep Moscow and the Idaho football family in your thoughts today: Rising senior wide receiver Ken McRoyal, who was about to enter his second season with the Vandals, was shot and killed Saturday night at a party in Los Angeles. School officials confirmed McRoyal's passing to the Idaho Statesman on Sunday, while head coach Robb Akey conveyed the emotions of a reeling team to the Twin Falls Times-News:

“They’re our kids, our family, however you want to (put) it,” Akey said. “Having a family, I’ve got to make sure they all know we love them. And so I’m just glad I was able to tell K that when he left town – those were probably the last words out of my mouth when I said goodbye to him.”

McRoyal, a juco transfer from El Camino, saw action in eight games for the Vandals in 2011. Our sincere condolences and best wishes to his family and the entire Idaho football community.
