Here's a quick rundown of every Penn State player who intends to transfer away from the Nittany Lions before the start of the 2012 season. Check back for updates.

• RB Silas Redd: USC. Dave Ruden transcribes Redd's personal statement to the press; it reads, in part: "As many of you know, playing football at Penn State has been a dream of mine since I was seven years old, and I will be forever grateful that this dream became a reality. This is the reason that the decision I have made is so difficult for me: I will transfer to USC to complete my education and my college football career, beginning in the 2012-2013 year."

As big of a deal as this is for the Trojans' tailback concerns, it's an even bigger deal for the Nittany Lions. Redd was PSU's most successful offensive weapon in 2011, ranking 30th nationally in rushing yards accumulated.

QB Rob Bolden: LSU. The Tigers' SID took the time to confirm Bolden's transfer himself:

Bolden was scheduled to report for practice in Baton Rouge today, according to the Times-Picayune.

• S Tim Buckley: NC State. The first player out of the Penn State fold will join corner David Amerson, 2011's national FBS interceptions leader, in what could be a forbidding defensive backfield.

• TE Kevin Haplea: Florida State. As a sophomore, Haplea saw playing time in every game last season, functioning primarily as a blocker, but finished camp behind Kyle Carter on Penn State's post-spring depth chart.

LB Khairi Fortt: Cal. Fortt "wanted a new vibe and a new opportunity," according to his father, and has about had it with the social media backlash already:

• DL recruit Jamil Pollard: Rutgers. The prospect the Times-Tribune called "Perhaps the best recruit Penn State landed in 2012" won't play a down for PSU. Instead, he plans to finish up summer school in State College and report to New Jersey next week.

• [UPDATE 8/2/2012] K Anthony Fera: Texas. A good fit for both parties -- Fera, PSU's leading scorer in 2011, heads to Austin to replace Justin Tucker, the Longhorns' leading scorer in 2011, all while returning to his home state.

• [UPDATE 8/3/2012] OL Ryan Nowicki: Illinois. Tim Beckman's phalanx of coaches finally gets a return on its efforts! The Illinois native heads closer to home after not cracking the post-spring depth chart.

• [UPDATE 8/6/2012] WR Justin Brown: Oklahoma. With 2011's top receiver Derek Moye currently in camp with the New Orleans Saints, Brown was to be Penn State's most prolific returning pass-catcher. His name was removed from the Nittany Lions' roster on Sunday and he's expected to report to Norman as early as Monday.

• [UPDATE 8/17/2012] WR Devon Smith: Marshall. The senior wideout joins junior corner Derrick Thomas, who left the Nittany Lions in June to enroll with the Thundering Herd. *Related reading: John Infante, bylaw blogger extraordinaire, has put together a look at NCAA rules Penn State can use to its advantage over the next few years that you may find instructive.
