• Make eye contact with Nick Saban in the safety and comfort of your home. teamcatlab takes a spin with college football's wee emperor.

• Grudging BCS update. We want a dead period for all of this. Conference realignment, playoff creation, all of it. Let it consume the other eight months of the year, and let us talk football and only football right now. Into this line of fire steps the AP's Ralph Russo to keep the rest of us posted on the growth of the new postseason system.

• Maize & Bones. In one of the more macabre stories to come out of the Michigan football community this week, the estate sale apparently being thrown by Bo Schembechler's son, Matt, has been cut short by an injunction filed by the groundskeeper (see the Twitter timeline of Michigan Daily's Stephen Nesbitt for details). Also, there's a box of femurs just hanging out, like bones are wont to do at an estate sale? Or something?

• Injury report story hour. Clemson receiver Martavis Bryant is out for Saturday's game at Boston College due to a groin injury sustained in a Tuesday workout, per a school report ... Kentucky quarterback Maxwell Smith has a separated shoulder but hopes to suit up against South Carolina.

• Roster blotter. Fresno State receiver Rashad Evans returns to action for the Bulldogs this weekend after serving a four-game suspension for not meeting the NCAA minimum credit requirement during the last academic year. (Evans, a business administration major, is set to graduate this December. C'mon, NCAA. We all let our foot off the pedal towards the end of college, right?) ... In subtractive news, Penn State has lost another quarterback.

• Can anyone tell us which uniform is which, because it is a little unclear.

Quote of the day. From South Carolina's Wednesday practice report: "The Gamecocks are the least penalized team in the SEC so far this season. 'It’s probably called real good coaching if you ask me,' chuckled Coach Spurrier."

• Misc. You can now follow the Miami Hurricanes in two languages, thanks to their introduction of a Spanish-language @LosHuracanes Twitter account ... so many things about ESPN's Thursday night broadcast make sense now ... Manny Diaz is cackling over a cauldron of linebackers ... one able-bodied punter, free to good home ... Shakin' the Southland asks the obvious question, and digs deep for answers.
