Alabama defensive back Ha Ha Clinton-Dix nearly became the highest-profile player to be ejected behind the NCAA's revamped targeting penalty.

Clinton-Dix made contact with Aggies running back Ben Malena midway through the second quarter of the Crimson Tide's matchup with Texas A&M on Saturday, knocking him out of bounds with a big hit.

Referees initially ruled that Alabama would be penalized 15 yards for a targeting foul and that Clinton-Dix would be ejected from the game. Officials reviewed the play, however, and ruled that Clinton-Dix could continue playing, though the penalty was still enforced and A&M was given 15 yards and a first down.
