Texas quarterback David Ash (head) out for second half against Kansas State
David Ash's return to Texas' starting lineup was short-lived. The Longhorns quarterback, starting his first game after missing last week's contest, was evaluated for a head injury that kept him out of the second half of Saturday's game against Kansas State, Kirk Bohls of the Austin-American Statesman reports.
Ash completed 14-of-25 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown, and he rushed seven times for 27 yards in helping the Longhorns to a 17-7 lead at intermission. Senior Case McCoy started the third quarter for Texas. Ash left the fourth quarter of Texas' 40-21 loss to BYU in Week 2 after injuring his head and shoulder. McCoy started in Ash's place a Week 3 loss to Ole Miss, but the team announced earlier this week that the 'Horns' medical staff had cleared Ash to start against the Wildcats.
