On Friday, Eastern Michigan fired head coach Ron English after a 1-8 start to the 2013 season. On Saturday, Eagles athletic director Heather Lyke announced in a statement that English's firing came, in part, due to English's use of " wholly inappropriate language" during an address to the team.
